Dutch Lily Days to connect once again with the 2016 Flower Trials

The Dutch Lily Days will once again be held on the week before the 2016 Flower Trials. This decision was made after evaluating the fifth, highly successful edition of the lily event. Moving the open days to the beginning of June has clearly had a positive effect on the level of interest. In 2016 the participating companies will open their doors from 7 to 10 June (incl.).

Many visitors have expressed that they are delighted with the new dates for the Dutch Lily Days. “Particularly our foreign visitors find that the two events are now better aligned. The beginning of June also means that the increasing interest in Orientals can be catered for better, as these come into bloom from the beginning of June,” agrees Derek Stol of participating company Royal van Zanten. As with 2014, there was a great deal of interest in the double Orientals, which are a considerable developing segment of lily cultivation.

The Dutch Lily Days celebrated their fifth edition in 2015. Stol continues: “In five years, the event has grown to become a regular must-go-to on the calendar. We now welcome many traders who have become loyal event visitors; this is key. This year in particular it was quite remarkable to see how many bulb growers turned up at the open days.” the Dutch Lily Days are also making excellent inroads on the publicity front. Sarah Dikker, winner of the ‘Holland’s Best Flower Stylist’ TV show, opened the event this year and marked the occasion by naming her very own lily, something a lot of the media chose to focus on.

Satisfied with the quality of visitors
The event has now also been assessed by the organisation and the participating exporters and trading companies. This clearly demonstrated their satisfaction and pleasure with the quality of the visits. The Dutch Lily Days have been confirmed to be of superb additional value to the Dutch cultivation of lilies. Participating companies have indicated that they now find it ‘easier to enter’ new lily countries. Vietnam for example, has become a clear advocate of the rising lily culture in Southeast Asia.
